Whats in that bag....guy version

It's hard to believe that in 2 days we will be on an airplane headed to Europe for a few weeks of amazing adventures for our honey(group)moon. All the planning and prep work are about to become reality.

However, before we depart the biggest challenge has been packing one bag to meet the European budget airline requirements for carry on bags. Traveling with one carry-on bag is what has allowed us to visit so many amazing places because we save money on baggage fees and fancy airline prices. Packing light isn't for everyone but you tend to be a happier traveler if you can do it.

The main budget airline we'll be flying in Europe is Easy Jet. Their carry on bag max requirements are as follows: 50cmx40cmx20cm (this guarantees your bag can go on the plane with you on every flight). 56cmx40cmx20cm (guarantees your bag can go with you on MOST flights, if the flight is too full than they provide you with free checked bag options). The other airlines we'll fly on include Ryan Air and Vueling airlines. They have very similar carry on bag policies. The max weight on some of these airlines are 10kg (22lbs).

Listed below are photos with descriptions of my husbands bag.
North Face Rain jacket (outer layer), The green pouch is an Eddie Bauer mid layer puffy jacket (made of down feathers). This jacket is reversible, warm and as you can see takes up hardly any room in the bag.

Three t-shirts (in darker colors since dirt shows up more on white/lighter colors)

Four pairs of boxers (2 of them are exofficio underwear-made to wick away sweat, reduce odor-made by NASA)

Pair of gloves and polartec arctic fleece lined base layer bottoms

Three long-sleeved base layer tops. 2 are made by Patagonia and 1 by Eddie Bauer. Made to keep the body warm in cold temperatures while at the same time wick away sweat.

Three pairs of pants: gray chino khaki's from Gap, pair of jeans and black Lulu Lemon track pants (for hiking, comfort and to use as pj's)

Two long sleeved button up shirt (one is more dressy and one flannel).

Black and white scarf (he bought this in Italy on our last European adventure and used it to block the sun, as a towel and picnic blanket), belt, baseball hat and black beanie with brim.

One pair of board shorts to wear in the geothermal pools in Iceland, on the beaches of Spain and as regular shorts if it gets warm.

One pair everyday shoes-Nike Lunars with no tie laces (purchased separately)

One pair of dressy shoes by Cole Haan-the sole of the shoe is Nike Technology which means these shoes are very comfortable. He is also packing a pair of lightweight, thin flip-flops for the beach and hostel showers (not pictured).

Nikon DSLR with charger, filter, battery, flash, wrist and neck strap. Go pro and selfie stick. Miscellaneous charger cords (cell, camera, gopro, portable charger). Portable charger. Power strip with usb outlets to charge all electronics (the European adapter will be in my bag).

Toiletries/Accessories: deodorant, sunglasses, earphones, Lush brand toothpaste tabs (no liquids! Just add water and these tabs turn into toothpaste and leave your teeth feeling sparkling clean), razor, toothbrush, disposable contacts, hair products, sunscreen, Downy wrinkle remover, bar of soap and container, kleenex, watch and Wet Ones antibacterial wipes.

Alps brand sleepsack liner, head lamp and Vapur collapsible/foldable water bottle (1liter), Osprey daypack (to be packed inside main backpack for day adventures).

All the items above will be packed into an Osprey Porter 46liter, our bag of choice for a long European adventure.

Super Nel and I like to use packing cubes to help organize all our belongings within our bag. It helps with finding that headlamp or one pair of socks when you're short on time and don't want to unpack and repack everything in your bag.

My guy friend Jose will be bringing an REI Mens LookOut 40liter backpack. Here are some photos of what he'll be bringing in his bag.

All packed and ready for travel!

This is a photo of his backpacked fully packed with the clothes/outfit he'll wear on the plane during our intercontinental flight.

Here are is a photo of what he is abel to fit inside his bag using packing cubes for organization.
