Last Day in Barcelona

Our flight to Madrid wasn't leaving until later in the evening so we had an entire day to explore Barcelona.

After a tasty breakfast at a tiny and packed brunch place we were ready to explore the city.
The seats were built into the outside of the restaurant and the table collapses and moves outwards.

My cappuccino was full of love.

Super Nel and I decided to ride up to Montjuic Castle. It's located at the top of the city. We took the bus to the top and once we stepped off we were rewarded with a 360 degree view of the entire city-gorgeous!!!

The gardens of the castle.

City views on one side

Ocean view on the other side.

This castle was used as a prison and as a defense system from naval ships throughout Spain's history. Now the castle is used as a tourist attraction and people can leave the city behind to come enjoy the beauty and peace of the castle. There are some hiking trails connecting to the castle and we even saw some people taking archery lessons on the lawns.

There are still coat of arms decorating the castle.

This price of art was in one of the rooms of the castle. It looks like a cross made of iron and a mirror is behind it at an angle that shows the Star of David. The artist worked to combine the two different artpeices together to make a statement.

I could have stayed up on the castle all day enjoying the sunshine.

After our adventure it was time to go to Madrid. The great part about going to Madrid is that we'd get to see Darius and Freddy! They'd been exploring the country of Spain for the last two weeks and we couldn't wait to hear all about their adventures.

Once we landed and checked in we met up with both of them for dinner.

Reunited and it feels so good. Darius and I were so excited to see each other again.

In the next blog post read about our visit to the Prado Museum in Madrid.
