Egyptian Temple in Spain

We said good-bye to Bree and Dana on our last morning in Madrid. They would go to Switzerland for the last part of their trip and we would go to Iceland. We were sad to leave each other but excited for our next adventure.

Our flight to get to Iceland wouldn't depart until that evening so Super Nel and I decided to see one last famous sight: An Egyptian Temple. As I said before, I love ancient Egypt so I was very excited to learn that a temple existed in Spain. It was given as a gift to Spain by Egypt. This temple was created by Cleopatra and her husband.

There were three different parts to the temple.

The temple is surrounded by water and is at the top of a cliff.

Inside you can see actual hieroglyphics made by the ancient Egyptians!

Inside the temple

It was a windy and rainy day.

Overlooking the city from the temple.

We spent the rest of the afternoon at the local library relaxing before our late night flight.

In order to get to Iceland, we were flying to London and would be there for 8 hours from 11pm until 7am the following morning.

We discussed just sleeping in the airport instead of wasting time and money to get to a hotel. But in the end, we stayed in a pod hotel room. Yotel Hotel was created through the idea of first class flight cabins. Our hotel room was a small cube with a bed that expands with a remote, see through walls for a bathroom/shower and that's about it (luggage storage under the bed, table that folds out and fold out chairs). It was a pretty cool concept and located inside the terminal. Also, it was less expensive than a regular hotel room.

When we woke up the next day all we had to do was walk to our terminal.

Super Nel and I were really excited for this part of our adventure-even if it meant it was almost over. We would do this part of our trip all alone and that too was a good thing. We already missed all our friends who had departed for home or other adventures but Super and I were excited to see a new country together alone as husband and wife.

Read about our next adventure in Iceland next.
